| She takes me for a ride
I take it as a joy ride
Just when the emotions come in tide
Only then I realised I have only myself by my side.
Thanks.
Damnation.

| It's a 25m lap pool. It only allows up to two swimmers to swim comfortably. I took a lane and swim like there's no tomorrow. Guess the two uncles that sharing the next lane felt too pressured of my speed and splashing around ( I ain't swimming VERY fast or using very proper strokes either), and left the pool barely 20 minutes after I joined in. I continued to swimming like tomorrow might not knocking on my door of life anymore. Until there's a feminine figure start knocking into my eye vision, swimming toward my direction at the next lane, cladded in black bikini and what else, with a HOT BODY!! And whoa, she can swim pretty well too. With head lifted up can still managed to swim faster than the previous two uncles (who swam like lots of tomorrows will come). We swam without exchanging words, with her almost able to trail behind me at less than 10 metres away. Off and on I sneaked side views admiring her fairly toned and well balanced body, but aint got no chance to check out her face. I thought I should have get her chatterbox rung up after about 10 laps. When I looked up, she was no where to be seen in the pool. Ah damned. I exclaimed out loudly. Well, just as quiet as she entered my vision with she first swam toward my direction. She slipped out of the darkness at the other end of the pool, wrapped in bath robe and walking toward my side. I removed my goggle, tried my very best to give her a wink that could have burnt a lasting impression in her brain. Whether she did turned her face to me and looked into my soulful and expressful eyes, or even smile back at me and waiting for me to make next move, I would never know. Thanks to my short sightedness and power-less goggles. She walked past me and left the scene, leaving my imagination running wild with a tinge of pity. Pity that I have not done my laser eye surgery. | | |
| Once again, I beg to differ to be seen under the perception of "watching animes are only for kiddies".
Here's why.
Watching anime...it's pretty much similar to appreciating any other form of arts: different people would have gained different views and opinions from a very same thing. Try Piccaso, Leornado Da Vinci, Debussy, I'm pretty sure feedbacks from all sort of audience would not reach to a same conclusion at all.
That's how I view anime. And I'm sure there are others (you could be the one too!) that would not just watch anime just for the sake of the visual treats it gave. The art of anime could be very well lie deep within the efforts and thoughts contributed by the director, production team, voice actors/actress, animation team, storyboard etc.
You want some examples? Here it comes.
Heard of Gainax? The production who succeded in building cults and followers after the Evangelion universe they created? Now they are really some ambitious but careful team. Creating one hit wonder if hard.. BUT creating popular animes one after another is HARDER! They know this well. So they take their time in 'testing the market', step by step. Ever heard of the anime "Orochuban Ebichu"? No? That's one anime created by Gainax based on same titled manga series, filled with loads of sex scenes and jokes but all drawn in 'careless drawing style', nuch similar to Crayon Shinchan anime style. From that anime, Gainax gained experience in handling sex related jokes at different level and extent. Go watch the anime if you interested to see my point, the jokes are still timeless classic and definitely humourous for those graduated from their puberty and onwards.
Then there came the FLCL. Now THIS anime would probably ring some bell in your head I hope. Yes, the anime has mecha theme which could 'nearly' group together with Evangelion. And yes the anime has quite a number of sexual implied scenes scattered in the episodes ('nearly' group with Evangelion again, and oh yes, Orochuban Ebichu!) BUT the anime is still unique in its own way with drawing style is totally different from the animes previously produced by Gainax. The artwork is less serious than Evangelion and but has certain structured and well use of colours, better than the randomness found in Orochuban Ebichu. And at the same time some other experimental efforts can be seen here and there: Different drawing style for mechas (introducing more fluid and emotional elements through inorganic machine entities, an idea extended from Evangelion), intentional yet inexplicit sexual toned conversation (inspired from Orochuban Ebichu), deformed character drawing, Bizzare but eye-pleasant character clothings/fashion, unrealistic but yet impressive weapon (electric bass guitars??), last but not least, adorable characters that has unusual traits and strong visual differentiation! A vespa-driving, leather-jacket-and-pants-cladded, eletric-bass-guitar-wielding, SUPER HOT CHICK!? You bet that's an unusual and very daring combination of character! And this is also another recommendation from me: Go watch this anime and challenge your ear and mind in hearing the SEXY conversations!
Gainax definitely make this anime with very, very cautious mind. The intention is clear: testing the market acceptance on the new styles/elements they wish to implement in future projects. So they come out with FIVE episodes of OVA. Too short for presenting good story but good enough to create impact and feedback. The response are pretty positive, a nice music to Gainax ear and mind. So off they go...to create the next big hit.. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
So how good is this anime? Just search around the internet and you would easily see this series had captured tonnes of attention, critics and general anime audience alike! And do you know that they have referred quite some positive elements from FLCL?
1. Just have a good look at Kamina, with eyes strongly resembling those of Haruko in FLCL and sharing quite some traits too (relentless fighting spirit, advices that seem almost next to nonsense but eventually make sense after proven by actions, cheerful happy go lucky attitude when out of combat mood)
2. Mecha designs are 'off centred' and 'unusual'. There are mechas in FLCL with face/head based on huge hand. And similar idea can be seen in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, where face/head itself is a body of the robot. FLCL fan would probably feeling quite nostalgic upon seeing the mecha design style!
3. And how could I ignore one of the biggest attraction of the series: YOKO the sexy heroine!! Well, wondering how would this character related to FLCL? Remember I mentioned the bizzare combination of character? And now you sure would aware that this SUPER HOT CHICK is a bikini-cladded, mega-sized-sniper-rifle-toting, topped with ultra long silky smooth hair tied by a pair of golden chopstick and skull hairclip. Bizzare combination of character? You could say that again, BUT this lady had captured hearts and attention of many people, including non-anime fan! Get yourself in a figurine community and you might realise how many of Yoko figurines collector had NEVER even watched the anime but captivated just by the visual design! Now that's a daringly successful character design or what?
And if you still have the spare thoughts and wonder how I actually got all the ideas to write the above. Let me enlighten you: I watch those anime and use my brain, just a little.
May you appreciate the art of anime as well. Cheers.

| Nothing special happening lately. I'm being assigned to work in Hong Kong for a couple of weeks. Tried around 10 or more restaurants in just a week. Nothing special happening lately. Summer sales with discounts up to 70% are everywhere Bought myself a very, very strikingly yellow striped Adidas. And a shirt for my bro. The cutting just won't suit me well. Nothing special happening lately. My actual shopping list is not decreasing at all. Looking forward weekend solo outing could do something about it. And yet there are things in my mind straddling me down. Nothing special happening lately. Paris Match music is a good surprise catch from TimeSquare's Apple shop. Mickey Mouse artworks scattered around TimeSquare is a photographer haven Yet to get my camera to snap away properly. Nothing special happening lately. I do not wish to grab any of your attention. Nothing special happening lately. Yes. Nothing special happening lately. | | |
| There were 2 routes right in front of me Or at least that's what I thought initially Both end seems to have bright lights of hope I was greedy, or just being indecisive And make myself a route in between of the 2 existing routes Hoping that I could enjoy the sceneries from the both side of the routes at the same time
Ah well, my simple and ignorant plan of course being thwarted by the cold hard truth That the price I have to pay for the middle route is LEADING TO NOWHERE The pleasant and warm looking route A suddenly shut itself up While colder and harsher route B seems still uninviting to use at all
My mind is still blown by this reality I gotta face Feeling as if I'm back in square one (in fact, I AM!) Lost of guidance and reluctant to pick up the 1st step again. Please, just please Can't everyone just be frank and shout out the thoughts? Or am I the one that shut myself so much that I no longer knowing how to express myself
Anyhow, life goes on Time pushing forward everything moveable within its dimension of chrono-logic Whether I wish for it or not my legs still gotta push myself forward to whenever the strongest Light lead me to
